HSQE Advisor

Salary:    £38,000 to £45,000

9 Months - Fixed Term Contract (PAYE) with the potential to become permanent             

We are a growing company who is looking for an experienced HSQE Advisor.   Initially it is to support a project in Barking, Essex, however, there is the potential for the role to become permanent and encompass work nationwide. 

The HSQE Advisor will have specific responsibility for the provision of advice, assistance, and support for on projects. This will include the production/review of documentation and monitoring of health and safety matters.   As well as promoting health and safety awareness and monitor that safe working practices are completed in line with legal requirements and regulations and internal standards.    This position is office and field based.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Oversee OSH activities on behalf of the HSQE Manager to ensure the business complies with all OHS legislation requirements
  • To manage the reporting of all OHS issues and performance to the HSQE Manager
  • To be responsible for data management including supporting admin to maintain a monitoring system that captures and reports workplace Health & Safety progress & KPI data
  • Engage with all employees & contractors to promote a positive OHS culture
  • Support and guide managers in investigation procedures with Human Factor and Fair Culture understanding and writing the report with recommendations, and ensure that the actions from these recommendations are undertaken
  • Assist in developing, communicating and implementing OSH strategies & initiatives
  • Develop & deliver H&S Training/Briefings to Staff
  • Visit sites and undertake inspections
  • To contribute to the development of systems and procedures, and the whole team approach in meeting quality and performance targets
  • Coach and mentor Trainee Health & Safety Advisors and Technicians
  • The organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements
  • Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time

Key Qualifications / Experience

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Health & Safety.
  • Must have IOSH memberships such as TechIOSH, GradIOSH or working towards CMIOSH.
  • Environmental experience (desirable)
  • Experience and knowledge of HSEQ management systems and compliance to ISO standards ideally (ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001) is desirable
