Junior Bid Writer
We are expanding our Bid Team and have a brand new role to fill. If you have 2 or more years experience in Bid Management, writing or coordination and a degree or equivalent in English or Business Studies this could be your perfect next move to progress your career.
Role Purpose
Your primary role is to support the bid function, reporting into the Bid Manager. You will support the production of winning responses to RFPs and ITTs, the development of responses to SQs, PQQs RFIs and RFQs.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing new opportunities sent to our Enquiries email address
- Logging new opportunities by creating records in our CRM pipeline register on SharePoint and creating new communication channels in MS Teams
- Downloading documents and filing in the Tender Library
- Managing tender portals including responses and tender queries
- Completing supplier questionnaires and PQQ documents when required
- Working with technical leads to produce clear and compelling bid responses, making sure that high quality proposals are submitted on time
- Proposal planning and setting up of reviews for tender deliverables produced by technical leads, bid writers and estimators
- Leading bid kick-off / launch meetings
- Escalating risk / issues to the Bid Manager for resolution
- Reviewing the professional CVs that we use to support tender deliverables and keeping them up to date
- Creating, adapting and updating case studies
- Obtaining feedback on successful and unsuccessful proposals to ensure continuous improvement in the bid process and reviewed with senior management
- Updating the CRM pipeline register, keeping bid status up to date and ensuring pipeline data is accurate
- Supporting maintenance of the Bid Library
- Producing templates and standardised documentation
- Compiling bid deliverables into a final submission document and submitting our response before the deadline
- Managing the hand-over of tender files to operations post award
Required Competencies, Skills and Attributes
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English
- Numerate
- IT literate, intermediate level user of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation skills
- Skilled in editing copy to correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Team player and effective communicator
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines in high pressure situations
- Highly organised

Required Qualifications / Experience
- Relevant degree (e.g. English or business studies related) or equivalent qualification
- APMP Foundation Level – Desirable or willingness to study for the APMP Foundation Level for Bid and Proposals professionals
- Previous experience (ideally 2 years or more) working in Bid Coordination, Bid Management or Bid Writing
- Experience in the construction industry, although experience in rail infrastructure preferred
