Rail Construction Team Leaders

We are currently searching for Team Leaders to join our NSW Construction teams, these roles are based at Rutherford in Newcastle or Wetherill Park in Sydney, with travel required to the Hunter and Upper Hunter area, and Sydney Metro area.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Oversee and supervise a construction crew of up to 12 staff including the management of external plant & subcontractors when required.
  • Liaise with clients & site supervisors on-site as to scope of works and time frames of project completion.
  • Attend project briefings when required.
  • Ensure required paperwork and site processes are completed and followed by all staff within the Team Leader’s crew (risk assessments, briefs, toolbox talks, production reports, Take 5’s, alcohol testing etc)
  • Ensure care of customers, members of the public and all other stakeholders.
  • Develop and foster a culture of OH&S and rail safety on the worksite.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Regulations.
  • Maintenance of appropriate communications between the various functions/divisions


  • Proven experience in a team leader role.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Ability to manage a small team.
  • Strong communication & problem solving skills. 
  • Team player willing to get involved across the business.
  • Efficient utilisation of labour and plant resources on site.
  • Minimal site safety incidents & rapid and effective response to any site incidents that occur.
  • Effective communication between site supervisors, management and all other stakeholders.
  • Ongoing compliance to regulatory & RRA procedures.
Essential Criteria:
Cat 1/3 Medical Assessment
Network Induction (on commencement)
Construction Industry General Induction (White Card)
Safely Access the Rail Corridor  (SARC)
Applicable Work Roles to work on one network (minimum) as per matrix. 
HR/HC Licenses will be highly regarded.
            Rail Core Units of Competency:
TLIB2085 - Apply track fundamentals
TLIB1028 - Maintain and use hand tools
TLIE1003 - Participate in basic workplace communication
TLIF1001 - Follow occupational health and safety procedures
TLIF1001 - Follow occupational health and safety procedures
TLID1001 - Shift materials safely using manual handling methods
TLIU2008 -  Apply environmental procedures to rail Infrastructure
